A light that will never go out.

I have known Una for over 15 years most of which were as partner to one of her beautiful daughters. Sadly my relationship with Una's daughter did not last but Una remained an ever present in my life. I remember meeting her for the first time following my break up with her daughter. Una could have been forgiven for ignoring me or crossing to the other side of the shopping centre. But that wasn't Una Crudden!!! She rushed towards me, grabbed me in a bear hug and gave me a big wet kiss. She was one of the first to send a friend request when I joined Facebook and we would often chat on Facebook in the wee small hours. When I met or spoke to Una she lit up my day with her enthusiasm for life and her warmth. She also had a remarkable talent for lightening my wallet with her enthusiastic and relentless fundraising. To me Una was like the sun with its gravitational pull on all around it. Once you were within reach of her life enriching light and warmth there was no getting away from it. Not that you would want to get away because when you were with Una it felt like a safe and life affirming place to be. Sadly Una has passed on but like the sun, her light will burn long and bright with all who had the fortune to know her. Anyone who knew Una would recognise that the phrase "Rest In Peace" & "Una Crudden" were not made for each other. She'll be up there putting God's house in order & bossing his angels about. In which case I will end by saying I love & miss you Una!!!
